DRIVER EDUCATION Programs

Our Programs vary depending on the level of the person booking and the program attainment status, starting from the basic level car setup, mirrors and cabin check also including steering, cornering, round-about, braking, emergency stopping, brake and evade, hazard awareness, different braking procedures, reversing, parking, slalom for controlled steering and much more.

The minimum age to be in one of our programs is 15 years of age with parental consent.

Bookings are made by contacting our office by phone on 41 811 773 for dates and costs for the required program in both centres.

Programs vary in length from 5 hours to 12 hours depending on the program structure and the driver education required.

Program costs are set in accordance with the level of education required and the length of the program.  Payment preferred method is direct deposit to bank details set out on the invoice, no less than 7 days prior to the commencement date unless by special arrangement with our admin officer.

Because our driving education is carried out on our own unique complex no learners permit is required, our outreach center is also on private land thus the same conditions apply.

Drivers College programs commence generally in automatic to gain car control – if manual is requested some of the last half of the program will be allocated to this.

Drivers College provides all education vehicles and equipment except for 4WD training and caravan towing programs where it is best for you to learn in your own vehicle.

Pathway to Your L’S Program

This is the basic driver education program designed specifically for novice pre learner permit drivers.

It gives the students a basic tutorial section before they proceed to the maintenance vehicle to learn “what makes a vehicle operate” and the vehicle checks that they should make.

Now the students commence the hands-on driver education from correct seating and mirrors to line driving, turning access points, cornering, and braking in a controlled safe environment. A great starter program for 14- 15-year-old youths.

Pathway to Safer Driving Program

The best available 2 day hands-on program for students from 15.5 to P plates.

After the tutorial and vehicle maintenance sections it’s all Hands-on driving including great techniques. Hands-on Wheel, Cornering, Roundabouts, Hills, Traffic signs and lights, Braking on a Variety of Surfaces, Pulse braking procedures, Brake and evade at a variety of speeds, Reversing, Reverse parking, Steering control, Forward and reverse slalom plus much more. Corporate Driver Education Course

This Corporate Driver Education Course is designed to enhance the driving skills for all employees and with the special slow maneuvering vehicle training, it provides them with the ability to operate in tight spaces with confidence.

The program also includes skills and techniques to enhance driving ability and awareness along with other lifesaving practices. Braking, hazard avoidance, vision, and anticipation along with following distances process.

Should you as an employer have any extra items you would like included please advise us and we will add them to the training format.

Defensive Driving

What are some of the reasons for doing a defensive driving course?

Top-up to License Test

For learners who have 80 hours or more on their logbook, this amended program will provide the following:

  • Tutorial on vehicle care, road safety, fatal five, hazard identification, crash prevention, risk-taking, law and penalties, reverse parking, tips for license test practical.
  • Hands-on driving skills assessment
    Improved knowledge of how your car works.
  • Braking and emergency braking
  • Brake and evade process.
  • Anti-skid and crash prevention
  • Change of road surfaces, the wet road driving.
  • Reverse parking
  • Crash responses, first on the scene or what to do if I crash.

This program will provide learner drivers with a defined up-date of their skills and techniques and preparation for the type of question and demonstration of their driving ability and knowledge used in licensing tests.

Driver Distraction Education Road Show

Drivers College Road Show is different from any other driver education program.
How does this program differ?
It is unique and innovative in its hands-on, real-time approach to Driver Distraction.

  • A video presentation showing the outcomes of “Text and Driving”.
  • Adjusting vehicle seating, application of seat belts, mirror adjustment.
  • Starting the vehicle, acceleration to 20kms, and maintain speed control.
  • Braking on activation of a stoplight, time test for a reaction.
  • First distraction by educator, reaction time recorded, variance shown to the student.
  • Repeat this distraction in a different scenario.
  • Exit vehicle and move to the mapping area.
  • Mapping distance strip showing points of a second in centimeters.
  • Discussion on the varsity of the distance traveled while distracted or driving blind.
  • Educators discussion of the difference in reaction time and braking time/distance.
  • Kinetic Energy and velocity relating to braking.
  • Drunk and Drug goggles, showing the effects of either on the body and its ability to function.

4 Wheel Drive Training Course

This is a “make-specific course” contextualized to meet the specific requirements of the employer or the client, in accordance with the nationally recognized standards of TLIC1051A and RIIVEH201D.

The course contains but is not limited to:

  • Demonstrate the operation of the 4WD light vehicle in a safe, effective, and efficient manner.
  • Pre-start cabin and vehicle checks,
  • Identifying hazards,
  • Relating to location characteristics,
  • Technical capabilities of vehicle and driver,
  • Braking techniques,
  • Braking methods relating to rough terrain,
  • Use of low range gears.
  • Managing fatigue,
  • Stress in relation to long periods of driving,
  • Reversing confined spaces.

This course will enhance your handling of your 4wd, improve your travel time, and the economy of your vehicle. It is highly recommended for both individuals and employers.

Caravan or Trailer Towing

A comprehensive program researched from all states in Australia including;

  • Loading the van,
  • Equipment for towing vehicle,
  • Tow ball weights,
  • Seating and mirror adjustments,
  • Reversing,
  • Passenger direction techniques,
  • Reverse parking,
  • Emergency braking and much more.

Whether you are new to caravanning or have been on the road for some time, this program has something for everyone.

Trauma Refresher Course

Traumas after a crash can take many years to overcome, with the effects of injury and memory impact on your emotional and nervous system making moving forward extremely challenging.

Drivers College has a program that they specifically adjust to meet your needs relating to the trauma that is affecting you. It is designed to cover your concerns and assist you in returning to driving in a safe and confident manner.

Being able to address the driving techniques and the concerns in a safe environment allows you time and space to regain your confidence.

Senior Refresher Course

As all drivers age, their driving skills may become dated, which may cause you to question your driving skills and lose confidence in your ability as a driver. Is this you, need a refresher course? Drivers College has a dedicated program for all senior and mature drivers to enhance their driving skills through interactive driver education.

These skills provide them with updated road rule changes and modifications to road conditions allowing them to improve their knowledge of safe driving techniques and crash prevention thus becoming saver road users for the future.
