Driver Distraction Education Road Show
Drivers College Road Show is available to schools, sports clubs, and community groups.
The Road Show Program gives participants a real time experience showing the effects distractions have on driver safety, By operating the controls of the car themselves.
Our in car interaction provides practical hands-on experience with visual aids to assist in the understanding of road rules.
In this program, students will learn the fundamentals of operating a motor vehicle, starting, clutching, braking, stopping and much more.
PROGRAM INFO
- Complete Road Show Program with Educators Provided Free (condition apply).
- For Students in Years 9 To 12 (school guidance).
- Minimum of 2 Hours per Road Show (10 students per hour).
- Program held at our Bundaberg or Mundubbera complexes and can also be carried out at schools where we can obtain a braking area.

- Introduction to the program format and staff.
- Tutorial by qualified educator.

- Vehicle Tutorial .
- Accessing the Road Show Vehicle.
- Adjusting vehicle seating.
- Correct application of seat belts.
- Mirror adjustment.
- Positioning of hands on steering wheel.
- Location of peddles e.g. brake, accelerator.
- Starting the vehicle.
- Operation of gears and accelerator.
- Instrumentation on dash.
- Acceleration to 20 kms and maintain speed control.
- Braking on activation of stop light.
- Time test for reaction.
- Initial reaction test.
- Time recorded shown to student.
- Return to controlled speed of 20 kms.
- First distraction by educator, reaction time recorded.
- Variance shown to student.
- Repeat this distraction in a difference scenario.
- Exit vehicle and move to mapping area.
- Mapping distance strip showing points of a second in centimetres.
- Educator steps out normal reaction time.
- Distracted reaction time one and two are show to student.
- Discussion on the varsity of the distance travelled while distracted or driving blind.
- Educators discussion of the difference in reaction time and braking time/distance.
- Kinetic Energy and velocity relating to braking.
